
Astonishing progress in medical treatment has not been matched by the delivery of follow-on medical care. Increasingly health care is constrained by available time, the costs of medical resources and exploding complexity of treatment itself. This is especially true for high-risk patients including seniors and children in families coping with progressive chronic illnesses, and returning war veterans.
The promise of technology has simply not been fullfilled for the vast majority of us.
Perhaps it is time for family caregivers to take charge: to become more assertive in having family members get access to superior care. The first step is education...
